Schlange: "Na, wie geht's ?"
"Ach ja", antwortet die Schlange, "man schlaengelt sich so durchs
Leben. Und selber ?"
Da bekommt der Vogel einen roten Kopf und fliegt davon...
 
In case you don't read German:  A snake and a bird (Vogel) meet.  The
bird asks the snake "How you doing?"  The snake answers "Ah, one
snakes his way through life.  And you?"  The bird gets a red face
(embarrassed) and flies off. -- You see, since the snake said he "snakes"
his way through life," the parallel response from the bird would be to
say that he "birds (vogel) his way through life," but in colloquial
German, "vogel" means "copulate."
 
     My name, Wuensch, means "desire" in German, and my wife, who is
Swiss-German, gets teased about that when she is back home -- "Just
what do you desire, Frau Desire?" the men leer.

Eine alte Frau sitzt im Park auf einer Bank. Es ist Winter.
Ein Mann kommt vorbei und setzt sich neben die Oma. Um ein
Gespraech in Gang zu bringen, sagt er:
"Ganz schoen kalt heute!"
"Jaja", kraechzt die Alte zustimmend.
"Es gibt bestimmt bald Schnee!"
"Jaja"
"Und die armen Voegel hier draussen..."
"Jaja, ...und die Reichen im Hotel!"
 
     An old woman sits on a bench in the park.  It is Winter.  A man
comes by and sits next to the grandmother.  To get a conversation going
he says. "It is quite cold today."  "Yes, caws the old woman in
agreement."  "Looks like it is going to snow."  "Yes."  "And the poor
birds (armen Voegel) outside here."  "Yes, and the rich (copulate) in
the hotel." -- The old woman misunderstood "Und die armen Voegel hier
draussen" to mean "and the poor (people) copulate out here."
