Opis for Pitt County, NC

Go to http://gis.pittcountync.gov/website/opis/ . Under Search Methods, select an appropriate method (name of owner of property, address, or parcel number). On the right you get lots of info on the parcel and in the middle you get a map of the parcel. Click on the LL button, then click on the lightening bolt, and then click on your parcel to find its latitude and longitude.

Now, on the left, where it says “City Limits” on a white background, click to display a drop-down menu. Select Aerial Photography. Cool. Now click the minus button to zoom out, again and again. Cool.

Now navigate your way around the county. Cool.

Once you locate a building, you can click the Identify arrow (on left, below “Aerial Photography”) and then click on the building and it will tell you who owns it etc. It gave the location of my office in the Rawl Bldg. as being Lat. 35.6061, Long. -77.3645.

Here is an aerial shot of my neighborhood, taken in 2003:

    Now I zoom in:

My house is the one with the swimming pool on the back deck.  I can also see my car in the driveway, my vegetable garden on the northwest corner of the lot, and my shed and tomato patch southwest of the pool.  Cool.  Now I zoom in a bit more.
