There are a lot of these sites around. Here are some of the best ones:
At Always Faithful, has an awful lot of links to very interesting sites, but the history has a brief but comprehensive page.
The Chosen Young Marines has a comprehensive page of USMC history.
Command Headquarters (of Al Varelas, a Vietnam Vet) has some down right interesting "stuff" (including some background on The Birth of the Corps).
The USMC's History & Museums has the "official" history (their Customs & Traditions page is really informative, and their Who's Who in Marine Corps History is thorough).
GySgt. R. Lee Emery has some interesting links (especially of you want to buy something).
Zac Pilcher, a sergeant in the USMC, has a good page on USMC history (it hasn't been updated for a couple of years, but then there hasn't been a lot of history made since then...).
