Nancy Williams DIDACTIC PROGRAM IN DIETETICS SCHOLARSHIP

 

 

Purpose

The NCDA, Inc. Nancy Williams Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Scholarship provides financial assistance to a student whose career goals are in dietetics.  The scholarship is to be used in the academic year in which DPD requirements are completed.

Funds for the scholarship are derived from the interest accrued from endowed funds from contributions and funds designated by the NCDAF Board.  Currently $1000.00

 

Notification of Availability

The availability of the scholarship will be sent to colleges and universities offering DPD programs.  The purpose and availability of the scholarship will be published yearly in The Link, a minimum of 45 days prior to the deadline stated on the application.  The application deadline is February 15.

           

Criteria

  1. The applicant must be a resident of North Carolina and attending a North Carolina College or University.
  2. The candidate is enrolled as a student in a DPD program and will complete the knowledge requirements established by ADA during the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.  Examples: a) a current Junior (rising Senior) enrolled in a DPD program; b) a first year graduate student in a coordinated Master’s degree program; c) a graduate student in a Master’s degree program who will complete the DPD requirements during the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded. 
  3. The applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  4. The applicant must have leadership activities in the university or community.
  5. The applicant must have potential as a professional dietitian as determined by letters of recommendation. 

 

Application

Complete and mail in a hardcopy of the NCDA, Inc Nancy Williams Didactic Program in Dietetics Scholarship application form.  Submit the following with the application:

  1. Three references addressed to the First Vice Chair of the NCDAF.  References should come from individuals, excluding relatives, who are able to judge the individual’s academic and scholastic ability, character, and potential in foods, nutrition, dietetics, or food service. 
  2.  A college transcript including the last semester completed.
  3. An official ADA Declaration of Intent to complete a Didactic Program in Dietetics form signed by the Program Director.
